Pierr Morgan's Profile

About

When I was a kid there was a room in our basement where my dad tossed fabric samples from his interior design business. A huge pile of color and texture. I used to throw myself into the pile and lie very still, imagining myself in perfect camouflage, my skin having become one with those glorious fabrics.

These HAND-Stands came about after seeing wooden glove makers' hands and being prompted by a friend to try making one with fabric. I couldn't stop at one. I've been making them for 14 years, using my hand for the pattern. Each one is stitched on a 1950 Singer Featherweight, then fingers & palm packed with fiberfill, and its wrist weighted with pennies inside a sealed container to stand sturdy. To delight!
