What does Pink Dotties Means?
I have asked myself this question all last week while I was redesigning my blog and store layout. I’ve been in search of this all last week. I came up with a beautiful conclusion so let’s recap:
I came up with that name the day I open up my Etsy store back in 2005. I liked pink and polka dots and thought they would make a unique name. I had a 90’s kid and liked Sanrio spottie dotties so I thought I would give it a twist by adding dotties instead.

How did Pink Dotties come about?
I had no idea there was a world of blogs with tutorials, how to’s, or even knew I lived a mile away from a Michaels store. I started making jewelry from found stuff and materials (they were poorly made let me tell you). I wanted to show myself thought accomplishment and wonder if anyone would ever be interest…

What does Pink Dotties Means?

I came up with that name the day I open up my Etsy store back in 2005. I liked pink and polka dots and thought they would make a unique name. I had a 90’s kid and liked Sanrio spottie dotties so I thought I would give it a twist by adding dotties instead.

How did Pink Dotties come about?
I had no idea there was a world of blogs with tutorials, how to’s, or even knew I lived a mile away from a Michaels store. I started making jewelry from found stuff and materials (they were poorly made let me tell you). I wanted to show myself thought accomplishment and wonder if anyone would ever be interested in taking it from my hands. I asked a friend of mine if she knew anyone interested in my corky items and she mention Etsy. That is when I posted a few items nearly free. I didn’t physically know anyone who was interested in the accessories I made and Etsy was a whole world connected, I knew I would find someone that did.

As time went by I started experimenting with new mediums, materials and thought myself so much. I learned to sew, master a glue gun, and paint. I was eager to understand art, color, and design and that lead me to start taking digital art classes. I was visually trained to design, but my heart was always attached to hand made. I liked getting paint under my nails, pretty fabrics, glue and color pencils. Obviously I went on to finish my graphic design training and currently work 40+ hours a week as a designer, but my heart always wants to be away from the monitor.

How would you describe Pink Dotties style?
I was told once by my lithography teacher that I capture a childlike innocence in my work. I’ve always embraced my style and it shows in my fine art work, design, jewelry and accessories. At times I feel like Peter Pan; everyone has grown up and I’m still here refusing to do so. Pink Dotties creations are made by the little girl who lives in within me.

Pink Dotties creations are not created by the trained designer, or the artist. Pink Dotties creations are made by the child in me. Pink Dotties is the little girl who lives in within me.
I hope to find a home to all my pieces where those inner children are anxiously awaiting for. I would love to capture the audience of those who are grown ups, but not so much at heart.

Thank you,

Karla
