About

Welcome to Pink Parchment Soaps!
We absolutely love making and using handmade products. Why? Because we come from a family with a long history of skin problems. Psoriais, eczema, dry skin, itchy skin, ashy, rashy skin, you name it – we have it. Do our products cure these conditions? Nope. Have we found that they help? Yes!

Who makes our products:
Our products are made by me (Trish – the oversearer) and our two daughters Christina and Anna (the creative juice). Jim – loving husband and father is one of our official testers.

New: We have opened another soap shop - FunSoapShop here on etsy. If you are looking for our fun and unique soap - take a peek over there.

What ingredients we use and why:
We use ingredients that we feel comfortable putting on our bodies and in our mouths. Most of our products are Vegan (no animal products or by-products). Some of our products now contain Beeswax. Why? Because we support local as much as possible and because for some unknown reason for bees dying off, we are trying to support new bee farmers as much as possible.

How we test our products:
We test our product on ourselves, extended family (it’s huge) and friends.

What we do in our spare time:
Spare time? When we are not making soap, scrubs, lotions, body butters or perfume, you can find us either in the garden or snuggled up with a good book.

The Ingredients we use:

Calendula Oil – Has been known to help with a variety of type of skin damage. To make the Calendula oil, we infuse Extra Virgin Olive oil with calendula.

Canola Oil – Has good moisturizing properties.

Castor Oil – Has good moisturizing properties and helps make a great lather

Chamomile Oil – Has been know to help you relax. To make Chamomile oil, we infuse Extra Virgin Olive oil with Chamomile.

Cocoa Butter – Cocoa butter is known to be a superb boisturizer and slows down moisture loss. It is also known to be easily aborbed into the skin

Coconut Oil – Helps the soap to have a great lather.

Olive Oil – Olive oil softens and attracts moisture to the skin.

Kaolin Clay - Pink kaolin is a very gentle clay, making it suitable for sensitive skin. It helps to stimulate circulation to the skin while gently exfoliating.

Palm Oil - Is a mild oil and helps to ‘harden’ the soap

Safflower Oil – Has moiturzing properties.

Shea Butter – Shea butter comes from the Karite Nut tree, had been known to be a particularly effective moisturizer and contains many fatty accids along with Vitamins A and E. Shea Butter also contains natural latex, so those with latex allergies may want to stay away from products containing Shea Butter.

Sodium Hydroxide - This is what makes soap – soap. With out Sodium Hydroxide (otherwise known as Lye) you would simply have a bowl of oil.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How we make it:
Infused Oils: We make infused oils by slowly heating herbs in Olive Oil over a period of two to three weeks.

Cold Process Soap: Once we have decided on the forumla we would like to use, we mix our oils with sodium hydroxide, add colorants and fragrances, pour into a mold. After a period of 24 hours to 3 days, we unmold, cut and cure the soap. Our soaps take anywhere from 4 weeks to 8 weeks to cure.
