About

My name is Irma

By nature I am artist, getting ideas where ever I go. Ever since I was a child I would walk around with pencil and paper in hand. Coloring was my favorite hobby. Through the years I have taught myself how by experimenting with other artistic mediums. The first portrait I made was at age 13. Now I also know how to paint with watercolors (which is my favorite), oils, acrylics and mixed media. I also enjoy making art with pastels and prismacolor pencils. After finishing high school I learned screen printing but since I married relatively young I was never able to use my skills, while married I bought some of the supplies and an oven. Now that my daughter is studying graphic design she has finally found an interest in screen printing and rubbed it off on her brother. Hopefully you will see our work on here soon.

I spent my childhood living in Mexico, Nicaragua and Guatemala. There for I was a third culture kid, who became a third culture, grown up. While growing up I wanted to go study art in Mexico City but could not afford to study abroad. My dream was to study art at the art school called La Esmeralda, which is where great artists such as Diego Rivera went to. Hopefully someday I will be able to still do that.

As adult I got married and lived in Trinidad & Tobago and Brazil. I had several exhibitions on my own in Brazil and some collaborative in Mexico. I am currently getting divorced and having a rough time economically, there for my daughter thought it would be a good idea to sell my art on Etsy because she loves this place so much. Since the city where I am from does not support new artists, and getting art sold is very hard. We were both truly inspired by the videos on the etsy youtube page and the storys other users have :D
