I've loved knitting / crocheting unique and stylish items for some time now, but have been known to dabble in many things arty and crafty - I'm really into Zentangle (mindful, relaxing drawing) and I have painted quite a few canvases in my time. It literally takes up an entire room..okay and part of two more rooms! I work amongst organised chaos - a million different sorts of projects on the go all at once, but I know what I need to get done and when, so it works for me :) I also have a massive penchant for funky, stylised owls. I have them as statues, paintings, clothing, jewellery, and lots of cute softies..my collection continues to grow - soon I may be known as "the crazy owl lady" who sews/knits/crochets things!!

Browse through beautiful pieces in my store and order that something special either as a gift or for yourself....as I like to say, don't you deserve a little luxury in your life? By trade, I'm a Social Worker for the State Government (child - related) which I must admit is rough-going, you really do see tragedy every day. Indulging my love of yarn art and playing with fabrics- learning new techniques and sticking by some of my tried-and-true winners, is a blessed release from the stress and daily potential for burnout as social workers in the area in which I worked often did.

I learned how to knit during a considerably long admission in hospital following a several workplace assaults, and the nurses were so happy to help me learn, "since I was such a young person keeping up the tradition". I ended up making an amazing scarf (to my great disbelief), and beginning a shaker-style throw (which is on hold right now due to all my efforts being devoted to my Etsy store!) with their help.

Then along came the crochet! My (younger) sister showed me how to crochet a granny square (keeping in mind I'd always mistakenly shuddered with fear and imagined lots of blue-rinsed grannies whenever I thought of crochet!). Surprisingly to me, I picked it up like a duck to water thanks to her tutelage. Now I love crochet just as much or maybe even more than knitting! I'm happy to say that I am proudly contributing to keeping the tradition of knitting and crocheting alive and well in younger people :) I'm so keen to keep learning new skills and techniques, as there's so much more I want to be able to create and master. I know now that I've finally found my lifelong passion. That now includes sewing and beginner's quilting too!

My big dream / goal is to one day just have my Etsy shop and go to craft markets with my wares, but I'm a long way off that! NOTE: Yay! I've been running a monthly stall at my local Handmade Expo for the past five months! Unfortunately, due to my workplace assaults and the subsequent fall-out, I've developed several severe health conditions which are precluding me from returning to my previous career and to be honest, knitting, crocheting and now sewing are really the only thing keeping me going day-to-day and giving me mini-goals and a sense of achievement and satisfaction. It's exhilarating to me when someone wants something I've created!

Although I'm still a relatively young store, I have received some truly head-swelling, wonderful compliments from buyers just like you about my products, so I thought I'd share:

A US customer:
"Thanks so much for your note. I'm looking forward to receiving everything. As you are aware, there are certainly a great number of scrunchies/scarves on etsy, but after spending lots of time looking at them, it was clear to me that your work is the best of them all. Beautiful workmanship and very unique - a cut above all the rest. Will let you know when I receive the items."

And this customer followed with:
"My beautiful scarves/scrunchie arrived in today's mail. They are just as lovely as I expected. I absolutely love the combination of colors in the dark rainbow one. The purple one will look very nice with my sweaters and purple jacket but the multi-colored one will be very spectacular. Just yesterday I dropped my jacket off to the cleaners so I can't wait to get it back next week and wear the scarf with it. A friend already saw the scarves and is very impressed. It'll be fun to know that no one else has scarves like mine. I'll try later on to see if my husband can forward a picture of me in it for you."

A Canadian customer:
"I just received my scarf and it is absolutely beautiful. I just LOVE the colors, very excited to wear it! You are a very talented lady!!
Thanks so much,
P.S. I will highly recommend you to all my friends!!"

Okay, that's it head-swelling time is over! I've got plenty of "work" to do, so I'd best get back to it :) Thanks so much for taking the time to drop by my store, Twisted Knits By Suze - I really appreciate it and it'd be great to work with you sometime.
