Laura Owens' Profile

About

Hello! I am Laura Owens and I own, operate & design all items that you see here in Olive & Beau. Thanks for taking a peek!

My Etsy shop was formaly called Pish Posh Girls and was established in 2008 where I created dresses for little girls from the ages of 12 months - 8 years (see my "items sold" page). I took some time away from my Etsy shop to focus completely on a design position that was offered to me back in the summer of 2013. There, I act as freelance concept-designer for a company called ELEANOR ROSE, a sister company to KELLY'S KIDS. However, my love for personal design got the best of me and has now drawn me back to the world of Etsy! In my spare time from freelance design, taking care of my family, and homeschooling my 8th grader, I create items to sell here at Olive & Beau for the home & new mom!

Okay, why the name Olive & Beau? Because, not only…

Okay, why the name Olive & Beau? Because, not only does it just read well with me, it also made sense to me because I love making items for both the little girl {Olive} and the little boy {Beau}.

I'm a former US Marine. {Yup, that usually throws people for a loop.} I have had no formal education in design or sewing, I just see beauty beyond the bolt, buy fabrics that I love...and then create! My momma taught me how to sew...in a far off place, long, long ago. And for as far back as I can remember, I have been obsessed with fabric. How I choose fabrics: as you'll see I love it ALL! I don't have a specific style or print type that I follow. I'm drawn to just about everything from the trendy-geometric look...>>------>.....all the way to the vintage floral, mix-match look of Matilda Jane {and everything in between!}. If you follow me long enough you'll find that I change my logo, tags, business cards, etc... ALL the time. Shoot, every room in my house has a different theme and is changed around ALL the time! (my poor husband).

Pinterest & Fixer Upper binges, dry shampoo and a good exfoliant are some of my favorite things. And coffee. {can I get an AMEN!} I am a daughter of the One true King, Jesus. A wife, a mom of 4, and owner of 3 of the best dogs on the planet. {see photos of my family in my "About" page.}

Olive & Beau is run out of <several> places in my 1950’s southern home near Atlanta, GA. I truly hope that you find your time looking through Olive & Beau an inspiring experience!

Here are a couple of my life verses:

{1 Thessalonians 4:11 "And to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands."}

{Deuteronomy 11:19 "You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. 19"You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.}
