Welcome to my shop.
Hi, my name is Joe Pogan and I've been a tig (tungsten inert gas) welder since 1972 and a sculptor since 1994. That’s the year I bought a tig welder for my shop. I knew I wanted to make art with it but not sure what type. After trying different types of sculpture and not liking it, I went to a farm auction close to home and saw several boxes of rusty nuts, bolts, tools, etc. On top of one of the boxes I saw 2 eyes (nuts) looking at me, so I bought all of the boxes and thought I’d try to make something out of them. My first sculpture was a big pig but when I finished it, it ended up looking more like a bull dog. I then got pictures of a pig and did some measuring and tried again. This time it was a success. After a few more sculpture someone said I should try to sell them at a local art festival. I applied, got in and actually sold some of the sculptures. That’s how I got started and I’ve been…
