POP ART FOR DORKS:

I am an artist from southern Oregon, transplanted to the great Midwest.

Drawing and painting since childhood, I've taken detours into zines, coloring books, mask-making, and even received an MFA in writing!

In recent years I got back into painting, starting with a series called "Children Dressed as Monsters". That series has helped to reinforce the fact that all of my disparate artistic pursuits seem to be intertwined - writing a novel about the consequences of identity, painting children who wear disguises, sculpting giant masks, and painting self-portraits that re-cast the subject in different roles all seem to be ways of exploring similar concerns and obsessions.

I'm also a great fan of whimsy, as the paintings should amply demonstrate. More recently, I've begun a series about "Really Big Food", resurrected an old series of "Tornadobellies", and painted dozens of miniature portraits based on comic book and cartoon characters. Pop-culture mash-ups are another recent pleasure that I don't think I'll be abandoning anytime soon.

Additionally, I have self-published several zines and comics, and co-own a comic book shop in Chicago.

My prices are largely arbitrary and fully negotiable. If you see something you like, make an offer, we'll talk about it!

For those of you in or around Chicago, you can see the original artwork in person, perpetually on display at Brainstorm Movies, Comics & Gaming: 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave, suite 321!

Visit the URL below to see so much more than the items in my shop. These folders contain sold items, personal items, and commissioned works that never appeared on this site!
