About

I have been creating all my life, and for the longest time it was according to somebody else’s sense of style. So it became almost a physical need to make things without restrictions, the way I see world, to make art.

When I became a mom things just got a different color, and I started seeing the world from a perspective of a child. Fresh, new world opened up in front of me.

Polkadile sprang out of all this, and from desire to make objects that will mean something special to other people as well. Being very environmentally conscious, things really fell into place when I discovered silver clay and realized that it is a way to use recycled silver from photographic chemicals and computer motherboards.

Why Jewelry? For me, it is more then just an adornment or expression of current state of mind. It is a representation of a memory, especially wedding jewelry. It is a sum of communication channels: an outward (to the world) and inward one (towards oneself). It speaks on so many different levels, so many different messages. Combine that with the metaphysical idea that photographic silver is an extract of somebody’s memory, of a moment of time, and you get a piece of true wearable art. My mind started sparking with ideas…

After exploring the material itself, and getting a grip on the techniques, I started making things that made me really connected to the world around me, to my newly discovered perspective. You can see a lot of them in the shop. Some have been really interesting, and easy to connect to for my customers, and I am very grateful for that. It makes a big difference in a life of any artist. Thank you for your encouragement.
