About

BIO: Art started as therapy for Erika after the passing of her father and her divorce which happened around the same time. ARTIST STATEMENT: I'm really inspired by relationships. Not just romantic, but literally the way we RELATE to each other and to the things around us. Its easy to find meaning in everything, but the hidden truth of it all is that it DOESN'T really mean anything. (Sorry, didn't mean to get all philosophical) My point is, as an abstract expressionist I'm able to take those meanings, decisions, theories and views about everyday life and turn them into beautiful demonstrations of those inward emotions. The process helps me to understand, loosen or transfer all those harsh meanings and realities back into something very subjective and interpretive. My work is about having fun, returning to innocence and almost laughing at the human condition- the "meaning making machines" that we are.
