Kyley's Profile

About

My name is Kyley and I own three painting Chincoteague ponies; Chincoteague Minnow, Chesapeake Lightning (Blitz) and Chesapeake Boomerang (Boomer) and a Dachshund named Ammo. They weren't always artists....

Our story started in 2003 when I was given a troubled Chincoteague pony who was a past victim of neglect. I spent 2 years trying to build the trust between myself and Minnow. About ready to give up all hope at a relationship with him, I discovered a book on how to teach your horse tricks. Suddenly things changed, through trick training I was able to create a language with this troubled pony. Two more years passed and I was looking at a bright and happy pony, and I was running out of things to teach him.

As I was in art school at the time, one cold January night in 2007 I lugged an easel and some paint out to the barn. Pretty soon after Minnow was creating his very first painting! As it became evident that Minnow truly loved loved to paint I began to become overwhelmed with paintings and I started running out of people to gift them to - thus Painting Pony was born - a way to share Minnow's gift with the world.

We have since added two more Chincoteague Ponies (and their dachshund sidekick) to our small herd. The ponies truly enjoy painting and performing, sometimes wanting to stand at the easel for hours on end. They paint freely and untethered - free to come and go as they please.

We are happy to share the joy of their artwork with you. All of the canvas paintings donate 5% to Charitable Organizations such as the Chincoteague Pony Rescue, LAPS, SPCA, Main Line Animal Rescue, Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, The Feather Fund and The Chincoteague Pony Drill Team.

Each pony has a special story to tell. To learn more about this amazing trio please visit their website at www.paintingpony.com
