Poppy Porter's Profile

About

As an artist and jeweller I specialise in working with unusual techniques, materials and inspirations. Working in titanium, other reactive metals, precious metals and a self developed photo-inlay technique I create wearable sculptural pieces. My work is inspired by the speed, beauty and precision design of Formula 1 cars, the opulence of Tudor and Stuart lace cuffs and the colour and layering of Japanese kimono. All photographs I use in my inlay are taken by me and pushed through a digital translation process to become a jewel.

The original images in both my painting and jewellery becomes part of the new work dissipating its original coherence into a new form. It is impossible to tell what the original image represented. In its new life the picture bleeds into and lives on in the piece that partly takes its inspiration from the image it destroyed in its creation.

I graduated from Art College in the UK in 2007 and am now a full time Artist and Jeweller based near London in the UK.
