Kelly Savino's Profile

About

Inspirations: I am a potter, beekeeper, baker, renfaire fan and gardener, with an interest in fermented and cultured foods and the ancient pottery used to store them. I have an MA in Folklore and Anthropology, and an MFA in Ceramics. I live in a funky little neighborhood and run a community art studio at the nearby botanical garden and built a catenary arch soda kiln on some property in Michigan's Irish Hills.

Safety: I was either pregnant, nursing or had kids in the studio for so many years that I have always avoided making glazes with worrisome materials. I err on the side of caution and my glazes are stable and food safe.

Afterthoughts: I tend to make one of a kind work, not because I am an "arteest" but because I have a short attention span. (Look! A bunny!) If I made something you liked, though, drop me a line and I will try to make similar pieces.
