Not much is know about the real life of Professor Woodruff.
His name first started appearing on patents around the time of the Industrial Revolution. His most notable invention appears to be the "Woodruff's Audiological Beautifier" (an invention to trim ear hairs) that was wildly in Vogue for three years at the turn of the century.
His first name remains a mystery to this day, but his middle initial being "H" popular opinion sways between Horatio, Hieronymus, and Hector.

Upon his death in 1922, the executors of his will were dispatched to his New England home only to discover 4 stories of sub-level caverns beneath his seaside home crammed to the gills with fantastical treasures.
As of 2011 teams of historical preservationist are still unearthing strongboxes of eccentric ephemera yet to be adored by our modern generation of creative geniuses…
