I began making paper in 1989. I made my own handmade papers into unconventional hanging and loose leaf book forms for my Masters Degree Show at Chelsea School of Art, London.
It took one visit to Maureen Richardson's workshop to inspired me to begin papermaking and since then I have taught myself.
I make my paper creatively, inspired by the way the different fibres, leaves and petals eventually settle naturally in the paper. I love the way the ingredients I choose to add to the mix alter, colour and texture the basic paper or plant base. I usually don't use the 'deckle', I let the paper pulp fall off the edges of the frame and in this way I achieve the ragged feathery soft natural look to the finished piece.
