About

Welcome to Raspberry Robin. I am celebrating 32 years with my art business Maria's Ideas in Pittsburgh, PA ! I have been painting, creating art and scouring flea markets from an early age, hunting for vintage items to repurpose and find good homes for all of the wonderful old treasures.

Bringing joy to others who purchase these one of a kind hand made and vintage pieces is the driving force and my inspiration.

I was fortunate my parents and siblings, relatives and grandparents are talented and creative artists who encouraged and inspired me throughout my childhood and still to this day.

I opened my art business Maria's Ideas in 1982, a retail shop where I offered hand made custom greeting cards, air brushed clothing, signs and more. But, the air brushing for 16 hours a day at times, left me with a chronic tendon injury in my right hand. I decided to close up shop, rest my hand (decline suggested surgery due to possible side effects) however, I had to keep painting, so I decided to pursue my childhood dream of painting BIG!

I started my mural business in 1993. The murals took off and I have been busy ever since. While I design and paint murals by day, every minute my schedule allows I paint canvases and create art for ETSY!

I believe it's important to give back, and get involved. I am active in my community with neighborhood mural projects, at times I offer art classes.

I am SO GRATEFUL to all of my clients and new customers here, for allowing me to earn a living with my art for the past 32 years!
