About

We weave our commitment to sustainable living with the satisfaction of creating handmade wood items. In the south central New Mexico mountains, we work on private land and state forestry forest and watershed restoration projects to ensure the improvement of ecosystem function. Fire and water are powerful. Wild fire, often caused by lightening, is a common occurrence here. Nature has sent two floods in the last five years and, of course, there is always the "human caused" fire.

We often receive calls from folks when they see trees being chipped, ground up, or piled for burning, a common solution to the debris after a fire event or flood. Quickly, we move to "rescue" the trees for "wood with a story" pieces that, with the help our online store, find homes all over the country.

It just seems prudent to make something rather than destroy the scarred or damaged tree. Newly adopted pieces have a story that is told and retold. It is the "story" that elevates the unique qualities and character of each celebrated and up-cycled tree.

When we're not in the woods, at a creek, river, or urban property setting, we are in the wood shop where we fashion functional, one-of-a-kind items for your home, garden, and/or business. The possibilities are endless for the many creative ways that real wood works. Join us in our rescue efforts by "adopting" one of our unique stumps, benches, mantles, or tables!
