About

Hello and welcome to my Etsy shop. I have been knitting for over 30 years having taught myself when I was about 12 years old. I remember my very first project, a very long skinny garter stitch scarf made from various scraps of yarn I salvaged from the leftover stash that my mum had accumulated from her own projects. The scarf continued to grow until I had mastered the art of casting off.

I made my first sweater as a college student and wore that black fishermans' sweater until it fell apart, but was so proud every time someone asked where I had got it. It is so satisfying to say you made something that is admired by others.

It is this notion that inspires me to create simple but beautiful designs that use luxury yarns for others to make. I want to create luxury hand knits and kits to encourage people to take up the craft of knitting…

I want to create luxury hand knits and kits to encourage people to take up the craft of knitting and enjoy making something that they will be proud to wear or use.

Each design is simple to create to encourage you to complete the project, but also functional and appealing. I remember being frustrated when I was learning that the kits that were available to me were often for things I wasn't keen to keep once completed.

I find inspiration in so many places from flea markets and junk shops to galleries and yarn stores. I love to walk and cycle and bring elements from nature into my designs, whether that it through colour schemes or motifs. Flowers are a particular favourite and often feature as an element like an embellishment or motif.

I work from a small studio office in Nottingham close to where I live I find the peace allows me to enjoy my time thinking of new ideas and collect an ever growing stash of yarns.

For me, the challenge is to come up with ideas that will inspire others to start a new project or take up the craft of knitting. Every new design is the result of hours of thought and moments of inspiration. It is always so much more fun to make something you can't wait to wear or use and that is the essence of my work.

I have made many new friends through my Etsy shop and am still so delighted when someone buys a pattern and shares the results of their labour with me. It really has been such a fantastic journey.

I hope you find something to inspire you in my shop and am always delighted to hear from you when you have completed a project!
