About

Welcome to our Etsy shop! I have been creating art in pottery, jewelry, clothing, paintings and sculpture since 1998, and am mostly self-taught. My continuing inspiration arises from our five-cat clowder and eight-dog pack (all rescues). Obviously, I prefer to work in cat-and-dog-related themes! I say “our” shop because my husband, John, is my pottery partner and patient financier, my son Matt is my indispensable IT guy, and my daughter, Amanda, is my inspirational “butterfly girl.

In our last chapter, we had moved to Pensacola, Florida, in 1995 after my husband retired from a 30-year Navy career. We’ve lived mostly overseas—Hawaii, Guam, Japan, Singapore—so lots of that has colored the art. Obviously, I had to wait until later in life to get this art thing started, but art has always been my #1 favorite pursuit.

In our newest life installment, we have just moved to Edgewood, New Mexico--what a trip THAT was! Picture 8 dogs in a 35 foot RV, caravaned with the 5 cats in a Suburban!! We're now "country" people living int he mountains, just 30 minutes from Albuquerque, on a property stocked with crows, coyotes and cottontails. (The dogs love it!)

I call my style “Santa Fe Sushi” – because we LOVE the Southwest, chile peppers, and sushi. So each piece of art is a mix of all sorts of delicious styles and flavors rolled into one tasty morsel. And, hot peppers just seem to go well with cats.

I have too many ideas to work into one medium, so try to do a bit of everything, and every piece has some kind of story going on; words are indispensable. You’ll notice that animal rescue themes appear often, as do Christian themes, because for me, it all ties together. In fact, I am a Christian artist who doesn’t do specifically “Christian” art, but all of my work is done in a spirit of thanksgiving, and with the intention of glorifying God by using every creative gift He has given me as I seek to learn and pursue His purpose for my life. It’s an INCREDIBLE blessing to be able to work and create every day! It is truly the grace of God which is the power to create!
