About

Minnesota was my humble beginning and I’m so proud to say that! It was a fantastic place to grow up and my heart will always be there no matter where I live. I went to Mankato State University in Minnesota and received a degree in Clothing and Textiles in Business. I really never imagined my degree would bring me to where I am today. To escape the cold I ventured to Southern California and lived there for 12 years. San Clemente was fantastic! Here I started dabbling in the sewing industry. The energy, the creativity and the accessibility to product were what I needed to get the ball rolling. All the mentoring from mom, grandma and college paid off. My sister and I started a missy clothing line called Rene of San Clemente. It was all pretty crazy but fun! San Clemente was where I met my future husband who was living on the island of Kauai at the time. One trip to visit Kauai was all it took to come back, pack and move to a tropical paradise! That was in 1991 and we've lived here ever since. My husband, Joe, and I weathered out our first hurricane upon returning from our honeymoon. It was a pretty nuts time but the camaraderie that came from it was amazing.

Keiki Kovers was actually born from Hurricane Iniki. There was always a desire to start a children’s clothing company and Fema loans helped that dream come true. For many years the business took a back seat to raising our daughter Hayley but as she graduated and spread her wings toward college I did the same with Keiki Kovers. It’s a small family owned and run business that has included manufacturing and retail. We are located on the west side of Kauai in the small historic town of Hanapepe. Sewing has always been a passion. Here in Hanapepe, we let the passion, the love for creativity, and the enjoyment of sharing shine through every product we make. We invite you to come see what we are all about.

Aloha, Renee
