About

I learned photography at an early age, got published before my voice changed and it gave me an attitude. I found myself wondering if photography was really art and, honestly, I took it for granted. I never stopped shooting but my interests wandered into music and other forms of art and media.

I rediscovered my passion for photography having learned a lot more about what moves me in art and media and am enjoying experimenting with different techniques to create visions that embody the aesthetics that I've been developing in the years since those early days with a camera.

I am interested in images that evoke a feeling or challenge/change the viewer's perception of a situation, place or object but I am not concerned with clarity or fidelity. I shoot with both digital and film. I use unusual and vintage cameras a lot because while modern optics…

I use unusual and vintage cameras a lot because while modern optics are incredibly clear, clarity isn't always compelling. Sometimes it takes expired film through a rough piece of Russian glass to change the perception of something or create just the right effect. I believe that if it moves you, it's art. If it doesn't move you, it's something else.

I take pictures because I love doing it. When you purchase my prints, you not only support my creativity but you help keep me shooting, as the sales from my photography go toward offsetting the costs of actually doing the work.

I hope you enjoy having prints of my photographs as much as I've enjoyed making them.

Thank you,
Rhett Redelings
