Rineke de Jong
Rineke de Jong graduated as a fashion designer in Amsterdam and worked for a number of years in the fashion industry, but eventually opted for drawing and painting. She drew for years with Humphrey Bennett at De Gooise Academie in Laren and is a member of the drawing club Hamdorff, also in Laren, which has existed for 70 years.
She studied making tempera herself (she made several paintings with it) and oil paint, with a lot of interest in old techniques and recipes. Rineke mainly works from a live model. Her mythological paintings are a combination of abstract and realism in acrylic, the still lifes are realistic. She has won prizes in Holand and abroad and she also teaches.
She has written a book on “How to Make a Ball Jointed Doll”, ISBN 978-94-92575-26-5, which is published in Dutch and English. For sale in the bookshop, at Bol.com, etc. and directly from Rineke, but can also be borrowed from the library.
She makes hats, clothes and accessoires.
Rineke de Jong has often exhibitions in The Netherlands and abroad, such as in France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, etc., and was awarded many times. She was invited and was present with her works of art at the Florence Biennale 2009.
