R.J. De Cristoforo's Profile

About

I have been an artist, designer, maker for over forty years. My primary media has been wood. I have also worked with typography, photography, music production/engineering and other various media. I am a self professed geek/nerd and have worked with Macintosh computers since 1984.

About

I have been an artist, designer, maker for over forty years. My primary media has been wood. I have also worked with typography, photography, music production/engineering and other various media. I am a self professed geek/nerd and have worked with Macintosh computers since 1984.

I rarely work from a plan and improvise most of my spec pieces. Usually an idea will emerge and I"ll “sleep on it” till the form emerges in my mind then I will go to my shop and create the piece.
Commissioned pieces, however, are a different matter and following guidelines and plans certainly fall within my skill set.

Almost all of my non commissioned work is made from found/recycled material. In Oregon an abandoned walnut and maple desk provided material for five pieces and recently three discarded teak benches and my wife's old dinning room table and chairs have provided an abundance of wood.

I am available for custom work and happy to modify an existing piece to meet your needs. Lately I've become intrigued by faux paint finishes' and computer controlled woodworking machines; I am incorporating both into my work.

My website address is http://roncristy.posterous.com. My email is roncristy [!at] gmail.com. I'm on Twitter at @roncristy. I love to promote other artists who's work inspires me. Lets connect!
