Rosebud Forge is a family owned and operated business, founded and run by blacksmith, Robert Hanson (me). I established Rosebud Forge, "a budding venture," in Lancaster, PA (the "Red Rose City") in 1983, after the birth of my daughter, Maggie. I started forging in 1969 after apprenticing with a farrier in Rhode Island and have spent the last 43 years doing what I love. I learned the trade, shoeing horses, and then moved on to utilitarian, custom, and decorative work of all kinds, including gates, fireplaces, chandeliers, lamps, candlesticks, towel bars, hooks, ornate decorative fixtures, and more. My work has been featured in Sunset Magazine, Thomasville furniture ads, and in the portfolios of several interior designers. I continue to forge from my ranch in southern Colorado, where I live with my wife and fellow artist, Ellen, and our three dogs.
