The Roses and Sentiments handmade greeting card shop is run by myself Kim and my wonderful mum Gloria we both make the cards you see on this website as we believe two heads are better than one and we both come up with different design's some more challenging than others.

Our card making addiction started about three years ago when i went to a local craft class in my home town of Leicestershire i had alway's enjoyed making things and creating but never really took much notice of my hidden creativity.

Hi on this page i thought it might be nice to tell everyone a bit more about us who we are and what we do so here goes.

So it was in this class that i would learn for the first time ever the art of what they call Paper Quilling or Paper Filigree, we were to make a paper quilled Daffodil to put on a Easter card and so it began my addiction to this craft.
I was given a few strips of bright yellow paper quilling strips, a funny looking tool, a bottle of glue and was ready to begin when the teacher started to explain to me i had to take the funny looking tool get the strip of yellow paper and roll it then take it off and squash it into what she called a eye shape i thought what! how is this ever going to look anything like a Daffodil? but to my suprise when i had finished making all the shapes and started to glue them all together i was amazed it really did look like a Daffodil so pretty and so unusual i had never seen anything like it before and i could not believe i had made it with my own hands.
Some other pupils struggled they found it so fiddly and gave up but no not me i enjoyed it so much i came out of the class with three handmade cards all with these beautiful hand quilled Daffodils on i was instantly hooked.
So the next day i ran down to my local craft shop and came home with a bundle of paper quilling strips a tool and everything else i needed and that was it i could not stop.
Mum who also had never heard or seen paper quilling before was wondering what all the fuss was about as she watched me rolling these coloured strips of paper so i let her have a go and she instantly picked it up and before long she was hooked as well and so we both began making our very own handmade greeting cards and have not stopped since.

Mum is very talented more than me in fact as she enjoy's making the most challenging cards i have ever known 3d keepsake cards which you will see on this website such as vintage car, cake, victorian pushchair and more these cards are very difficult they are made from templates which you have to draw around onto card cut out score and put together and they can be very difficult to follow and to create but they are worth every minuite of hard work because the end result is spectacular who would ever believe from a piece of card you could make some of the most unusual and most intresting 3d cards you will ever see i to enjoy making these but get a little frustrated at times but i have a determination and will not give up easily.

Most of our handmade cards are our own design's they have not been copied from a book or pattern they are design's that we have thought of and created making them unique and special.
To us making handmade cards is more than a hobby it is a passion and we want people to enjoy these creations as much as we enjoy making them.

Both me and my mum were born and raised in Leicestershire United Kingdom we live in Enderby a village in Leicestershire.
My other intrests include shopping (I am a girl after all) going to the Cinema, playing video games and my other big passion in life apart from Paper Quilling is Horses i love spending time with them and go horse riding once a week i am hoping one day soon to own my very own horse (Need lot's of money first though to keep it) and i am currently doing some training and voluntary work in the Mental health sector i also run a handmade card class for people with Mental health issues.
Mum enjoy's shopping as well and she has a taste for anything old fashioned so she enjoy's visiting museums looking at thing's from the past.
She also enjoy's reading and going for walks and loves animals especially cat's.
Mum is also a card person and loves playing online poker and i have to say is very good at it as well.

So hopefully now everyone knows a little bit more about us how we got into the art of Paper Quilling and also a little about us as people what our intrests are and hobbies.

Thank you for reading ......
