When I was very little, my great grandmother used to babysit me while my parents were at work. She was french and a milliner, and she taught me to sew and to crochet. She was always meticulous and stylish, and she used to point out the fine details in her clothes and hats and tell me how important it was to take good care of things. She had a beautiful mink hat she had made that I fancied was shaped like a Hershey's kiss. I thought it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen, and I hoped that one day I could have things that beautiful!
Because of my great grandmother, I have always loved the detail, workmanship and style of vintage clothes, and loved even more the thrill of finding a special vintage piece. I have been a hunter of vintage for many years, but being 5’ 11” and definitely not model-thin, most of my great discoveries couldn’t come home with me. I don’t know why it took me so long to realize…
