I started Rustbelt Treasures after accumulating many treasures while out "junking" and "picking," in the "Rust Belt" part of the country. I am currently located in Baltimore, MD, but lived most of my life in Upstate, NY.

(For the history of the Rust Belt of America, here is a link, after looking in my shop of course!) http://geography.about.com/od/urbaneconomicgeography/a/Rust-Belt.htm

While digging around for vintage industrial items, I was fortunate enough to obtain a large variety of industrial wood foundry mold patterns. As I cleaned off the 70 to 80 years of grime, the wood grain, craftsmanship and unique beauty of these items came thr ough. They provided the softness needed for a room decorated with iron. I also enjoyed the process of reviving these items to bring out their history and patina.

As I revived these wood items, I found a sentimental value in the quality of the craftsmanship, from the "Greatest Generation," my grandfather's generation. The skill required to make the wooden foundry patterns by hand, and the amount of pride this generation put into their work, are truely seen in the enduring quality of each piece. This level of craftsmanship allows us to enjoy these pieces today.

I enjoy searching and digging around for unique vintage items, items with a history and a story. I love to share these items and their stories with everyone.

Before I started this shop I promised myself that I will only sell items that I would have in my own home, and will price each item reasonably.

I hope that you enjoy these items, and continue to stop by my shop frequently, as I plan to add new items every few days.

Please also visit our sister shop Viki's Variety Craft Supply at: http://www.vikisvarietycraft.etsy.com
which sells Vintage costume jewelry and craft supplies/destash.

All proceeds from the Viki's shop will go toward my niece Viki's college education. She will be attending Cortand College Fall 2013 and plans to major in Elementary Education.
