Andy Needles' Profile
Welcome to my ETSY shop. As you can see, my free time and creative energies go into designing and making one-of-a-kind, inlaid platters and cutting boards, using locally obtained, reclaimed woods, including black walnut, California sycamore, honey locust, and olive wood. I use semiprecious stones and shells for inlay, such as Apatite, Chrysocolla, Lapis, Sodalite, Malachite and Micas.
I am always experimenting with new color combinations and contrasts. I enjoy the moment when a platter is ready for its first finish coat, and the color and grain combinations "pop", and reveal their true character!
Each piece is treated with 3-5 coats of General Finishes Brand -Salad Bowl finish. This finish sets up in the wood, and seals it. I recommend that you use one side for cutting (generally the back) and the other side for serving…
