About

Our little shoppe is named after our favorite village in Provence. We have been going for over 25 years and we never tire of it. I am a devoted Francophile, with a background in many of the arts. I worked as an IT executive, and while working, went to college and grad school for a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. As a psychologist, I treated children with cranio-facial deformities, adults who were terminally ill and those who just wanted to improve the quality of their lives. I joined a local DC theater company that performed political and social satire. I was a multi-skilled troupe member, serving as Vice President and Director of Public Relations, an actor and dancer, choreographer, director, producer, costumier during the 1980's - a time ripe for satire.

We continue to perform in industrial videos and in other venues.

I began making jewelry in the early 2000s, after my spine gradually fell apart and I eventually had a total of eight spinal surgeries in last 14 years. My spine was so compromised my entire body. I have survived and even grown thanks to a natural resilience, the love of my generous husband, a boundless sense of humor. I have maintained a positive attitude in the face of great pain, physical limitations and lost years.

During these difficult years I continued to buy all manner of vintage costume jewelry and supplies to make jewelry. I have amassed a collection that could stock a brick and mortar shop! I will never in my life have time to use all these gorgeous supplies, so I must now give someone else the opportunity to wear and make gorgeous jewelry.

Thankfully I have other hobbies to keep me busy. In fact, I have more interests than I can keep up with or list. I think I am a true Renaissance woman (definition:" A woman who has broad intellectual interests and is accomplished in areas of both the arts and the sciences.") Here are but a few other interests: being a new "Grandmere," interior design, landscape design, Renaissane and 18th and 19th century European art, Indian culture and Ayurveda, speaking French and international travel and continuing my studies in psychology. Naturally, I hope to make more jewelry to sell here and at our other shoppe called Chateau de Verre where more beauty is sold. Thank you for visiting Saint Rémy and we hope you find something that will help enrich your life.
