...the S.G. story...

As a young girl, I always dreamed of owning my own business. In elementary school, I uncovered that I am an opportunist, taking on as many leadership roles I could; whether it was acting as a club President or selling lemonade to my mom and her co-workers at the office.

Starting part-time at the age of sixteen, I joined corporate America as the "gopher" girl who did whatever was needed to get the job done. I enjoyed the six years I spent working there while I was in school. It is during this time, I truly developed and uncovered my passion for business and being an entrepreneur.

...the S.G.

At eighteen, I went off to college to study Marketing. For two years, I attended the University of Portland, in Oregon. For various reasons, I decided to come back home and continue my schooling at Hawaii Pacific University. That was the summer everything in my life changed.

One of my closest friends' two year old daughter, Bella, was diagnosed with leukemia. A few days after, my Dad received his diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma. Cancer enveloped my life in a matter of days; changing my outlook on life.

While Bella is still fighting her battle at 6 years old; my Dad's battle ended in April 2009, as angels took him to heaven where there is no more pain and suffering - only joy and love. During my Dad's battle with cancer, many helped to find ways to ease the pain, even if just by a little bit. I have never forgotten that feeling and now it is my turn to give back to others in need of a helping hand and some cheering up.

And so, it is with deepest pride and admiration, I announce the birth of Sammie's Gizmos. The road of discovery to Sammie's Gizmos has been a long and bumpy one as I searched for the perfect outlet for me to give, just as others gave my father. Sammie's Gizmos products are all derived from some type of recyclable good that is upcycled into something new. Whether it be an old glass vase, toilet paper roll or a wine cork. I have found a way to turn it into a functional, trendy product for everyone to use and adore. On top of the appreciation you will have for your new purchase, I am giving you two more reasons to treasure your Sammie's Gizmos products. One - the product is an upcycled good which means it was saved from a landfill, allowing you a small contribution to protecting the earth. Two - 20% of all proceeds will go to charities and organizations that benefit those in need.

And so my journey of help begins!!
