About

Reduce, reuse, recycle may be an overused statement, but being the 5th child in a family of 8, I’ve lived my whole life following this mantra. Also, being a product of the 70s, I was upcycling before upcycling was in vogue.

I bleached out my jeans and then used the worn fabric for a "jean purse” as a way to extend the life of my clothes as well as my small babysitting bank account. I fashionably recycled my father’s WWII army sweater vest and added it to my wardrobe of handmade clothing, which got me through my high school years. All of this was the norm back then and is continuing to make a resurgence in our society today.

Now the motto I have followed for most of my life and continue to live by has become the motto of today’s economical and eco-conscious consumers.

I've been fascinated with art and design ever since my first studio art class in high school. While raising three children, I expanded my artistic interests to include artisan crafts such as soft sculpture, knitting, quilting, cross stitch, scrapbooking, quilling and card making. As if that wasn't enough to keep me busy, I earned my certification as an interior designer and taught myself gourmet cooking.

Now that my children have grown into adults, I started BEGIN AGAIN reloved designs as a way to combine my interest in art and design with my love for the environment. By repurposing materials from community thrift stores, I also help local charities such as the National Kidney Foundation and Goodwill.
