About

Hello!
I'm from the Keweenaw Peninsula in Houghton Michigan, or basically as far north in Michigan as you can get without entering Lake Superior. Many of my designs are inspired by the natural beauty of where I live. I love Upper Michigan, its safe communities, and beautiful beaches/countryside; we are a small population and somewhat isolated from larger cities in neighboring states. The closest small cities are Duluth, MN (4 hours drive west) and Green Bay, WI (4 hours south). A great place to raise a family, I was born here myself and never left.

Although I was accepted to the fine arts department of the University of Michigan after high school, I chose a different path and have instead enjoyed teaching and caring for children.

I began painting glassware as an outlet after many years of being 'too busy' with family & work to enjoy my childhood passion of art.

I decided to try painting glass when I was looking for a wine glass set online and noticed that while there is a lot of hand painted glassware out there, most of it was of a flirty/party theme or a more classic (grape vines, olives) design. My glasses tend to reflect what I see in nature, and are done in a more contemporary style. I like to use vibrant, translucent colors that really make you look deeply into the glass. When filled with liquid, the colors jump out even more.

My favorite glassware types to paint are mugs and martini glasses. Although I've never had a martini, I have a special set given to me for a wedding gift that I love & cherish - they make such a beautiful gift, esp. when hand painted or blown.... Check out my board on pinterest "Martini Glasses Without the Martini" for reasons why martini glass sets are the perfect gift!

I hope that Etsy gives me an outlet to share my creations with others outside of my small community, and that those who view them enjoy what they see as much as I have enjoyed painting them.

Thanks for looking!
