Three years ago my daughters were given naked American Girls by a friend who had picked them up at a thrift store. I had always been a sewer and had even completed a three-year design program, graduating with honours from Fanshawe College in Ontario in 1995. I was working professionally as a seamstress from my home, doing alterations and some custom work here and there so when the girls said "Just make something Mom" I couldn't really say no.
A friend saw the outfits I made and pushed me to do more, telling me these dolls were very popular and everyone would love my clothes, I laughed a little but was intrigued enough to do some research into American Girls and other 18" dolls.
It's three years later the dolls now own me!!In addition to our original American Girls I now have another American Girl, a Journey Girl, a Maplelea, a boy My Life Doll and two Our Generation Dolls; Doll Clothes have become my full time work. I attend various craft and gift shows and have a permanent table at my local Farmer's Market in Moncton NB Canada where every week excited little girls, some with dolls in hand, run to see what's new.
This is without a doubt the most fulfilling job I've ever had and I'm happy to share what I do here on Etsy!!
