About

My name’s Sarah Jayn Kamalsky (formerly McNally) and I’m a scissorina.

Scissorina (sizz-oh-reenah) noun, a female, scissor wielding multi-tasking crafter, often found drinking beer in large packs pretending to knit

I am completely unable to sit still. Thus, the craftiness. I've been sewing since the moment my legs were long enough to reach the pedal on my Mom’s (actually my Grandmother's) old Singer. I love nothing more than spending a Saturday afternoon staring at all the fabric, ribbon and what-not in my studio until suddenly I'm struck with inspiration and off I go to make something out of nothing. I believe that handmade items are more than just the material used to make them. The moment your fingers touch the fabric, paper, yarn, or whatever else you are working with, you've added an intangible ingredient to the mix. The most important ingredient. <3

I enjoy making as many of the components of a project from scratch as possible, so naturally I found my way into making my own bias tape, covering buttons with adorable fabrics and making pouches and cases for all of my favorite tools. Vintage haberdashery is another passion of mine and I'm excited to share my finds with you!

You can read more about me, my projects and the rest of my koo koo bananas life over at my blog: www.scissorina.com. Stop by and say hello!
