Scout Cuomo's Profile

About

It's easy to get caught up in life & weighed down. Sometimes before I know it, I'll be struck by the sudden realization my mind is reeling in a way of thinking and going through the motions, answering to anything else but personal needs and time

About

I have found that it's imperative that one takes time for their self. To let the self be & observe, at times completely removed from the need of validation and approval. It is important to be attentive to our personal needs in order to care, or take care in the relationships with those around us. I believe this is one way in which one can take a grass roots stand on making a positive impact on the world.

Color and paint, for me, provide a way to meditate on possibility & hope. There are no mistakes here, just opportunities for learning, and hundreds of years of masters to be humbled by. The scent of fresh paint, sanded wood, and playing alchemist with rich daubs of color are the simple joys I return to.

I hope these paintings bring contentment and a sense of peace and some pause buttons. I also hope this work inspires a bit of rebelling, accepting, vulnerability, and provides another place of reprieve.

Scout Cuomo was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1984. She received her BFA from Smith College in 2006.
