In 2009, when my husband and I moved over 3000 km (2000 miles) for his work, for the first time in my life I couldn't find a job. It took a year before I finally found one -- and temporary work was the best I could get.

Knowing that many more moves were in our future due to my husband's career, the thought of a life of endless dreaded job interviews finally motivated me to pursue a dream I had cherished for many years: to start a home-based, online venture that might someday be self-sustaining.

About

In 2009, when my husband and I moved over 3000 km (2000 miles) for his work, for the first time in my life I couldn't find a job. It took a year before I finally found one -- and temporary work was the best I could get.

Knowing that many more moves were in our future due to my husband's career, the thought of a life of endless dreaded job interviews finally motivated me to pursue a dream I had cherished for many years: to start a home-based, online venture that might someday be self-sustaining.

I was fortunate to have picked up some passable graphic design skills over the preceding ten years, so combining that with a love of arts and crafts, my Etsy shop was born. During the first two years it experienced some modest successes that encouraged me to keep at it in my spare time.

In 2013 we had to say a painful goodbye to a sweet little foster boy we had been hoping to adopt after a year-and-a-half of caring for him. Rather than returning to the workplace I decided to commit full time efforts to growing my online ventures.

Since then I have experienced some really great growth and though I am not yet to the point of replacing an income from a "real job", I absolutely love what I do and feel hopeful that one day with hard work and a little luck, the dream will be a reality.
