I've been a scrounger, beachcomber, scavenger, and queen of mongo* since I was a kid digging up carnival glass bottles out of a hillside at recess. I have a keen eye for neat things found on the curb, as well as at yard sales and thrift stores, and I just can't pass up a little look-see, because people toss out the most amazing things sometimes! I've found jewelry hanging in apricot trees and ages worn rings buried in beach sand, gorgeous vintage hats and books, exotic vases and bowls, fantastic teacups, and once, and entire new set of springform baking pans and a new roaster with vents big enough to cook a whole chicken. My mother, brother and sister both share this curbside obsession, but it's more of a casual interest. My sister once found 300 giant glass marbles on an abandoned train track in the middle of nowhere, and my brother has rescued outstanding furniture. I get so excited when I find great things I want to tell everyone! My dream is to someday get a metal detector I can use at the beach.
