I am afraid I am unable to take on any custom orders at the moment as I have a number of pieces I am currently working on.

Prices are in US Dollars....for customers in the UK, the exchange rate is fluctuating at the moment, it may be worth consulting an online currency converter.

Through many years of creating, I have experimented with many different media, both 2D and 3D. I have found it very difficult to focus on using one material, but after joining a ceramics evening class six years ago, I decided that clay would be my material.

I was already used to working in three dimensions as I have had a long standing career as one of the senior sculptors/model-makers at Aardman Animations,

About

I am afraid I am unable to take on any custom orders at the moment as I have a number of pieces I am currently working on.

Prices are in US Dollars....for customers in the UK, the exchange rate is fluctuating at the moment, it may be worth consulting an online currency converter.

Through many years of creating, I have experimented with many different media, both 2D and 3D. I have found it very difficult to focus on using one material, but after joining a ceramics evening class six years ago, I decided that clay would be my material.

I was already used to working in three dimensions as I have had a long standing career as one of the senior sculptors/model-makers at Aardman Animations,
working on projects such as “Chicken Run”, “Wallace and Gromit-Curse of the Wererabbit”, “Angry Kid” and “Creature Comforts”. After leaving Aardman to have my baby (now two and a half years old) I have found some (limited) time to develop my own style and techniques in ceramics.

The main body of my work, the sculptures and sculptural jewelry, are primarily influenced by the clay itself. I do not fight with the clay to make neat edges and smooth, even surfaces, preferring instead to leave the tool marks, the raw edges and the natural texture of the clay. The same applies to the glazes I use…I would like to experiment further, but so far I have found that I am most comfortable with matt stoneware glazes, that show different colours according to their thickness. I also have a penchant for silicon carbide, which when mixed with a glaze causes bubbling and blistering, and also iron oxide spangles…..a few thrown on causes lovely rust spotting, but add them on a little heavier, and the effect is a wonderful sparkly pewter. When possible, I also take part in Raku firings.

I also take reference form sea creatures, such as coral, jelly fish and of course, sea urchins. I love working with textures and a lot of my work is pierced. I do not smooth the piercing, but instead choose to keep the barnacle effect as the clay splits as the tool moves through it.
I am a hand-builder, mainly making pinch pots, of which I have an obsession to make as thin as possible. I also use plaster press moulds. These are mainly hemi-spherical and I then add texture and alter the forms from this base.

Shop policies.....................................

Please pay by Paypal, if you cannot pay immediately, or are having problems with the checkout system, then I would appreciate a convo as soon as possible.

Any customs charges are the responsibility of the buyer, and not the seller.

I will accept returns within 7 days of receipt.

If a item is damaged or faulty, I will refund or replace if possible if the item is either returned, or you could send me a photo as proof.

I will ship all items as soon as possible, usually next day. Within the UK I will post First Class, Overseas will be sent Airmail. If you would like additional insurance, please convo me when you place your order and I will send you a quote.

I love the challenge of custom orders, but please be aware that due to the experimental way I work, it is exactly that...a challenge! It may take me a few attempts to get it right, but rest assured that I do my best to create to your specifications :)

I do not take a fee up front for custom orders unless it is a personalised piece...ie: it is something I would find difficult to sell to anyone but you!

I am happy for you to resell my work on venues other than Etsy as long as you do not use my photos or text or try to pass the work off as your own. I am happy for you to use my pieces in larger pieces that you have created yourself and sell them on any venue including Etsy. It would be lovely if you credit me, but it is not mandatory, and I would also love to see how you've used the piece, but again...only because I am nosey, it isn't something you have to do :) Changing the cord or adding ear wires isn't enough though! I'd like to see your creativity involved!

You are welcome to convo me in regards to wholesale prices, but please be aware that I am unable to work on a sale or return/consignment basis as I don't create the pieces fast enough to let a significant portion of my work go without guaranteed payment.

Thanks for listening! ;)
