About

Hi Welcome to my shop. I'm Ellen the designer, photograper, shipper, manager and producer of the jewelry you see in my shop. I started crafting when I was about 9 years old and have always liked creating. I remember my first items were yarn pom poms I made to put on ice skates. I sold them for 25 cents a pair!! Through the years it was pot holders, scarves, key chains, animals made from shells, whatever ... later on studying took up most of my time as I went to Penn State University to become an elementary school teacher, and then to the University of New Jersey so I could be an elementary school guidance counselor. I have recently retired ( June 2013 ) and still love to unleash my creativity --- but now it's in my jewelry instead of the classroom.

I also love the beach and spend my vacations lying on the sand listening to the sounds of the surf, sea gulls and laughing children. My pictures sometimes use items from the seashore as a prop because I love the ocean and sand. ( Not too strange for someone whose last name is SEGAL- Smith.! ) It brings back great memories of when I would jump the waves with my Grandparents, parents and cousins at the Jersey shore. Now I jump the waves with my grandchildren and still feel like a kid. The joyful spirit of the beach is present in my pictures and in my heart. That's why my shop is called SeagullSmith Jewelry and I often use the seagull as my icon. Hopefully it will serve as a reminder to you of my shop name so that you can return again and again. Have fun shopping and let me know if I can make you anything special .
