Senay Akin's Profile

About

Hi, my name is Senay Akin. I am a mostly happy person just like my name suggests. (Yes, it means Happy Moon in my mothers tongue!)

When I was a kid, everything was so simple. If I wanted to go playing in the forrest, I would do so. If I wanted to be a tailor or goldsmith that day, I would grab a pieces of fabric and sew a dress, open a jewelry exhibition in my closet-gallery either I would carve a block of soap into something. I was good using my hands.

Things has changed when I grew old enough to choose a profession for real. Who knows why, I choosed to be a photographer. Things has changed when I grew old enough to choose a profession for real. Who knows why, I choosed to be a photographer. In my college years I discovered the fact that I needed to use my hands and create tangible things. Like sculptures...or clotes. Even better, wearable sculptures. In gold. And silver. Using gemstones.

And I studied more. First in Istanbul and then in Vicenza, Italy. It was not easy. I was a disorganized, somethimes lazy person. Jewellers files shaped me into a meticulous professional that takes it all very seriosly.

Being goldsmith is such a pleasure for me. I can play with real gemstones, gold and silver. I can teach people my craft. I can predict what would make my customers happy.
And I can travel all over the world, trough my jewelry. (Thank you Etsy, you have a big role in that last one!)
