Ann's Profile

About

My upbringing started on the farm. As a child I was raised by my grandparents when they were still farming. Work for them was hard living on the land but we had a good life, never hungry. When grandma had to help pick cotton, I rode on her sack as she pulled me along, I was too little to work in the field but I learned what it takes to make a living. Grandpa still had a team of mules to plow the ground to grow corn, maize, cotton, and vegetables. Grandma gathered eggs in her apron which she sewed herself. My dresses and even slips were made from feed sacks. I learned to sew, quilt, crochet, can vegetables and make homemade bread. Things are a lot easier now but I still love the simple life.
