About

SEWSOMER is a collaborative effort between a dynamic mother and daughter relationship. Somer and her mother, Brenda, live in duplex log cabin they spent two years building together on Boone Lake in Tennessee. They own and operate an alteration shop out of their home.

Brenda began her business to provide a service for the big, tall, short and small by sewing for the hard to fit. Our clients are limited in what they can buy in retail stores that fit properly and suite their individual tastes. We cater to weight losers or gainers with resizing their wardrobes. Our expertise lies in Personal Design and Consulting.

Brenda has been sewing over 40 years, since she was 12 years old. She completed fashion design school in 1975, taught in a sewing factory, and manufactured her own line of jackets, and pantsuits through the 1980's and 1990's. Most of her life…

Most of her life she sewed from home to raise two children.

Somer, her daughter, has been sewing since she was little too, first designing for her Barbie doll. She joined the military in 2000 and after several deployments and years training away from home, she moved back to Kingsport, TN to live and work close to her mother. She appreciated having a stay at home mom as a child and wants the same for her children. She wants to expand their local alteration business into an internet based business focused on custom one of a kind designs.

We work together to design and manufacture quality constructed garments that are comfortable, durable, and functional. We guarantee quality construction and easy care for all garments.

Our ONE OF A KIND works of art are reasonably priced because we take advantage of discounted fabrics, barter when available, and recycle brand name clothing donated to our shop. Our thrifty material costs allow us to pass along the savings to you.
Our goal is for SEWSOMER patrons to FEEL good and look good when they wear our designs. We transform the old and ordinary into new and extraordinary!
