Sherry Arthur's Profile

About

Sherry is a professional artist, author, and illustrator. She has released a children’s book titled, “Magical Hallows Eve,” written and illustrated by her.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She spent a great deal of time, as a child, with her grandmother, who was the first person to introduce her to paint; she made quilts and encouraged artistic expression. Sherry was an only child and feels she developed her vast imagination from spending large chunks of time alone. The inspirations come from everywhere and no place at all, she believes her Cherokee Indian heritage has a lot to do with her artistic vision. She has experimented with many different mediums and also dabbled in many different areas of the visual arts.
Today artwork is a way of life to her. The work is done in acrylic paint because they achieve the vibrant color she is looking for. She likes to paint an idealized sense of peace and simpler times. The artwork…

The artwork is not intended to be photo-realistic, so much as a wishful utopia. The hope is to give the viewer a feeling of happiness, a cherished memory, or some form of intense emotion. Her newer artwork sometimes tends to have a dark twist to it and much more of an emotional connection. She is most known for her imaginary and real landscapes and streetscapes. She has also been spending some of her time pursuing abstract art and illustration art. Some of her favorite subjects to paint are older homes, people, imaginary landscapes, water, as well as, little old towns. Much of her inspiration came from a vacation to Maine where she feels she found her artistic voice.
Sherry’s work has been collected in many places such as, Virginia, New Jersey, North Carolina, Arizona, Texas, Idaho, Ohio and many others. She also has collectors internationally as well. Her hope is to continue to reach people so that they can enjoy her vision of the world. Her opinion on her style of painting is this; “I do not label myself with any certain style of work, as my only limitation is where my imagination ends”.
Her hobbies are watching scary movies, reading a great thriller, spending time with her family, and playing with her dog. Sherry is a huge animal lover. She has donated her artwork to charity art auctions and hopes to continue to support charitable causes. Sherry recently said: “I will never stop painting till I am no longer a part of this world. I will accomplish much more on my artistic journey. An artist’s life is sometimes very hard but I am what I am and this is what I must do”. Come join Sherry in her alternate reality, a vision of her world”. Thank you for supporting the arts.

**Perfect art, shipped fast and very sweet person to deal with. AAAAA+++++! K
thanks again!

**LOVE my new book from Sherry!! When's the next one coming?!? L

**This piece connected with me instantly. The juxtaposition of the light colors and pink flowers against the bold borders created by the swirling thickets hint at a happy unrest.
It arrived just days after I placed my order, packed with great care and a lovely 'thank you' bonus work of art on the protective foam. There's is nothing that could have been better about this shopping experience! ****! L

**We commissioned a piece from Sherry and were so satisfied we are having a second scene
commissioned. She does a great job including you in the process (if that's what you prefer).
We stumbled across Sherry's work at an art show and are glad we did. Her love of
painting truly shines in her work. I confidently recommend working with Sherry if
you have a special scene, favorite vacation place or any other type of painting you would
like to have done. You will not be disappointed! -W

Haunting, magical and full of mystery! Superb! -P

Sherry's destiny lies in her art, a visual vacation, moody,
emotional and mystical. -H

Artist Statement
-----------------

I did not choose the world of visual art, it chose me. I cannot recall a day throughout my life where art was not present in some form.
My artwork is ever evolving into new and interesting ways. I am constantly in an experimental stage because I paint with my heart; therefore, I am never quite sure what will be unleashed next. I like to have fun with my work and turn the mundane into a wishful utopia.
My favorite subject to paint is landscapes from the real to the far out surreal. Some landscapes I paint stay very true to what they are. I find no greater inspiration than the work of Mother Nature on “our” planet and beyond. I like to start with a rather ordinary scene; give it my own little twist and charge it up with color. I find a strong emotional connection to letting the painting go in any direction it chooses to go. I paint only to please my inner self.
I occasionally enjoy releasing my emotions on abstract paintings. The abstract paintings are done in a flurry, painting with only raw emotions guiding me. In contrast to the structure of my lifelike works, the abstracts start with no plan. The colors and every part of the painting are merely chosen in the spur of the moment. Whatever I grab in the moment becomes a part of the finished pieces.
I enjoy working with the versatility afforded by acrylics. Acrylics produce strong vibrant colors and allow me to work quickly in the rapid pace of the emotional moment.
I have been a professional artist for 11 years and have written and illustrated my own children’s book. Art may have chosen me but we have made a perfect match. I will always be reaching for the stars because I know no limits.
