Voodoo Dawn's Profile

About

Marie De La Maison, formerly Voodoo soap and Beads is a small Artisan business, Worked from home on a part time basis after my regular job. I dream that one day it will be my sole support again. When I started this endeavor my youngest child had dreads and she loved soap, I made beads and so we started. Time moves forward and we have morphed into a new entity and very little soap is involved now, but I do still make it on occasion. Regretfully, My Grandmother passed away a few years ago. She was a major influence in who I am and in my creativity. A spit fire of a woman who took great pains to be kind and giving, charitable and strong, but could rip you apart in a moments notice if you didn't properly respect her world, leaving you wondering where the 4 foot 6 red headed Tasmanian devil came from. She was an amazing woman who worked hard and cooked and cared for us all, she raised me and gave me some very practical life skills and all the love a kid could want. She guided my artistic side with encouragement and was an artist of immense skill herself. Mimi who's real name was Marie sewed all of the families clothing from casual wear to evening gowns and bridal wear. You would never look at anything she made and believe that it wasn't made in a fashion house. Without my grandmother in this world I found myself lost and I frankly didn't know what to do. I still sometimes wonder how the world spins without her. What I do know is that I am who I am today because she influenced me supported me, loved me and was generous with me in every aspect of life. In honor of my Grandmother I am re-branding and naming my shop Marie De La Maison for I truly am the house that Marie built......

Polymer beads, horns and products are all made by hand with our own original design, they are sold separately and as a finished product. Additionally you will find the unusual charm or natural gift, be assured that all of our products are created with respect for our planet and our ancestors. It is my mission to create a product and sell it at a reasonable price. Yes I think my time and my art are valuable, however so are the people who purchase from me, I want you to be happy with your purchase while feeling like you got a good deal for your dollar.
What you see in a picture for sale is an example of that line, I make each one as they are ordered and do my best to duplicate but cant guarantee that there wont be some slight nuances or difference. Please know that this is functional art and art that is worn can break if stressed or used un-gently (this apply's particularly to costuming and horns.) I package them with care and love and on occasion things get broken in transit. Please know that we will do our best to resolve any legitimate issues.

Marie De La Maison, the house that Marie built, where magic is created with quality and the secrets of the ancestors are told!
