About

I love creating things by hand. My hands never seem to be idle. Even if I am watching tv, I always have some sort of project in front of me, whether it be knitting, bookbinding or many other things.

On Knitting...
I started knitting while I was in high school one summer. I lived in a very small town, and there wasn't much to do. Every summer I would try to come up with a new activity or skill to learn. (One summer I chose juggling! And by the end of the summer I could juggle pretty well!) Between talking with my Nana over the phone (long-distance) and the amazing website knittinghelp.com, I was able to teach myself how to knit. I stuck with easy things like scarves before I moved on to hats, gloves, and eventually sweaters. This is probably my favorite past times. It's calming (usually..unless I have a confusing pattern!). I find it hard to be angry at anyone or anything when I have knitting needles in my hands.

On Binding Books...
While attending college for my B.S. degree in Art, I took a printmaking class. I fell in love with the process of binding books. Now that I have graduated I want to continue to be creative and to produce new things. I have since been making big and small books for myself, as gifts, and selling a few to friends.

On Linoleum Printing...
Linoleum printing is a process I got a taste of in high school and then came to love even more in college. I enjoy the simple, bold appearance you can achieve. I've tried some color printing, but have found I am always being drawn back to the simple black ink. I just love the dramatic bold statement it makes, especially if it is printed on an interesting or colorful piece of paper.
