About

Welcome to Pretty.Simple.Things, the design studio of Savannah, Georgia based artist, Emily Sontag.

Emily’s professional background is in design, having received a BFA from the California College of the Arts and Crafts where she studied Fashion and Textile Design, after having attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York for an Associates Degree in Fashion Design. Emily worked for California based Fashion Designer Erica Tanov for several years, while continually exploring her love affair with textile design, silk-screening, and graphic design, before moving from the Bay Area, to Savannah with her husband and daughter in 2008.

Emily’s love of textiles and hand printed stationary evolved into the business of Pretty.Simple.Things when she moved to Savannah and began using her Gocco Printer (a Japanese silk screening machine) to create Invitations, Custom Stationary, and Birth Announcements for a select clientele, eventually expanding into a line of textiles and paper goods. Having also studied graphic design in college, and having a solid base in brand development, Pretty.Simple.Things also began catering to small businesses in need of more traditional brand development and marketing materials.

Emily’s work features original art and each piece carries the mark of distinction that is born when the hand of the artist is driving the printing process. Although Pretty.Simple.Things can cater to every aesthetic, whether it be traditional letterpress, streamlined offset printing, or more imaginative hand silk-screening, Emily’s work reflects a marriage between old-fashioned sensibility and artistic innovation, with the intent that every piece is varied, and original.
