Welcome to Silk and Stone Studio!

Creating malas has been a natural progression of my yoga practice, reiki, and my overwhelming fascination with gemstones. My malas are more than a beautiful tactile object for meditation, each malas gemstone is chosen for its specific therapeutic qualities. Based on these qualities I write corresponding affirmations for each stone presenting a unique and treasured connection between you and your mala. Each affirmation is then embroidered on a silk or cotton/flax storage pouch to keep your mala safe until your next meditation.

I delight in each stone, each knot, the texture of the fabrics. The creation of each mala is both a creative and therapeutic outlet for me. Diagnosed with Lupus in 2010, I have had to take a break from teaching yoga and slow down; bringing the focus back to my own meditation practice. As a wife, mom/step-mom to 3 busy kids, 2 rambunctious mini Aussies, and a new German Shephard puppy I know how hard it can be to find time for meditation. Let’s face it life takes over. That’s one of the main reasons I was originally drawn to a mala in the first place. Fingering the beads almost instantly calms the mind drawing you into your meditation. Malas are a wonderful way to carry your practice with you wherever you go.
