I was a part-time jewelry hobbyist until 2005. For many of us on the gulf coast, 08.29.05 was a turning point for a million different reasons. For me, the loss of both my home and my permanent job to Hurricane Katrina became a blessing. After all of the destruction, I found an avenue for my creativity in working with silver, metals, and many pieces of "old louisiana" that now comprise my art and my jewelry.
Much of the copper you see here came from my home's demolition and was reformed into copper sheet. Many of the silver pieces began as sterling flatware or other scrap that I've melted and used to make sterling sheet and wire in my studio. What a beautiful way to turn a forgotten bit of metal into a lasting memory.
My designs are a combination of vintage finds, altered objects, and new materials with a lean toward the rustic...i use materials and craftsmanship…
