SIMBOLI DESIGN: Gerry & Joe Simboli

Gerry and Joe Simboli are carrying on a long tradition of art, beginning with Grandfather Pietro in Rome, Italy. The tradition continues with three of their five children who are involved in fine art: two painters and one fine art photographer.

Graduates of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Joe and Gerry have had a long career in design, illustration, product design and woodworking. They have owned a freelance design and art studio for many years and continue to create art and explore new avenues for their talents.

One of their most notable accomplishments includes a set of twelve zodiac posters printed in 1969, which resurfaced recently and was used for a line of casual clothing by Sir Paul Smith, a leading fashion designer. The clothing was sold in Neiman Marcus stores and featured in their catalog. A few of these vintage posters are available now in the Simboli ETSY store.

Joe represented the United States in an international poster competition for the United Nations. Gerry was an art consultant for the world famous Longwood Gardens, designing books, posters, a ten-nation Worldfare display, many topiary animals and two of Longwood's Christmas displays.

The Simboli portfolio includes many toy designs and a card game, as well as a line of collector doll furniture for Reed and Barton and Madame Alexander dolls.

A line of animal and dinosaur put-together toys is currently being sold through Guidecraft toy company. Most recently, Gerry created a line of unusual, whimsical paintings which can be found in the ETSY store.

Joe and Gerry have also combined talents to create fine art wood sculptures. These will be shown at a number of Simboli Family Art Shows at renowned galleries - and all five artist family members will be represented there!
