The first time I saw a torch making jewelry I yearned for it to become a part of my life. I hung out every day that my soon-to-be teachers would put up with me until they finally decided I really wanted to learn. I was a true apprentice, spending at least 12 hours a day in the shop enjoying the thrill of learning about this new arena...Given a roof over my head and food, I gladly gave my teachers my time while I learned the basics that I have built upon for more than 2/3 of my life! Who ever thought they would stay in the same field for 45 years? True, I have forgone all semblance of a normal life to create in metal. Since arriving in Bisbee, AZ 16 years ago, I have added copperwork to my silver and gold metalworking skills, finding it has made my work a little more unique. Mother of two adult children, I am free to play in my studio day after day. Breaktime finds me in the garden, growing good food or climbing up and down the…

I feel pretty lucky to be part of such a wonderful artist's community. It reminds me that nothing is impossible.I love living in a town where art helped rebuild the community and I end up being rebuilt myself!
